I have 2 computers on my home network one running Media Center and the other
running Vista Home Ultimate.

Is there a way of streaming content from one to the other or do I have to
manually copy programs across first as suggested on the Microsoft site for
viewing on a laptop on the move?

There is no version of Vista called Vista Home Ultimate. There is Vista Ultimate & there is Vista
Home premium. Assuming that you do indeed have one of these two versions then you can watch TV shows
recorded on the Media Center PC on the Vista machine. You need to share the recorded TV folder on
your Media Center machine & then browse to that from the Vista machine.

You are right, it was late!, Vista Home Premium!

Other than browsing for folders is there not a way to view the programs
available from within Media Centre?

Sure, use Watched Folders. For music, photos & videos you can add these via the Media Center
interface. For Recorded TV you need to change some file protections & do some registry edits. All
the details are here http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2006/06/04/617449.aspx
