OK, this worked under XP and all was well, BBC News 24 and all the other UK
channels. Upgraded (if you can call it that) to Vista Ultimate and now have
only US garbage. No apparent way to put UK channels on or explanations on
what happened here.

Can anyone tell us how we can add/remove channels on this system please?

Well, I should have known. No idea how many people have even bothered to read
this, but no answers coming forward and nothing on the web to given a clue as
to where to go with this. Another white elephant from Microsoft for which we
users pay an inordinate amount of our hard-earned cash.

Perhaps if you where to give some more information you could get some help!

Media Center work just fine in the UK.... so you have to ask the question
what are
you doing wrong?

What type of tuners do you have?
Are you using a freeview DVB-T signal to get your channels?
Are you using Sky via a set top box?

What 'US garbage' are you talking about? Are you refering to the online
content?
If so and you are getting US content then the regional settings of your PC
are
setup for US not UK.

When you upgraded did you set your region up as UK?

Sorry - I'm obviously too new to this sort of thing.

I do not have a TV or TV Tuner in the PC, I am talking about internet feeds
and adding/removing the internet channels. All the PC's settings are for UK
(clock, location, keyboard, etc) but there's nothing about MC to tell you how
to delete or add functions.

Is this enough?

Well Vista media center online content for the UK is pretty limited so you
are
not missing out on much... ITN news, BBC news, Music magazine called F
thats pretty much it at the moment.

You don't add content to the online section of media center yourself,
providers of media center content that use the 10ft interface have their
content listed by microsoft, and then it shows up in the online section.

In the US many of the major networks have a media center prescence
but the UK offerings just aren't in the same league, i guess there just
hasnt been as much interest in supporting the media center platform here.

Get a freeview tuner or two for your PC... you wont look back... :)

Media Center is great for music, pictures, videos/DVDs and TV
those are its key strengths...

I'm just now encountering the same problem.

When I first installed Vista Ultimate a few days ago I was getting the
UK-centric content in Media Center. Today, I fired it up and found I was
getting the US content -- which is restricted because I'm in the UK.

Is there a setting somewhere to tell Media Center what country content to
show me?

Cheers

Not in media Center but in the systemwide Regional Settings. Control Panel>Clock, Language and
Region>Regional and Language Options>Change the country or region

I am having the same issue. It used to display UK content and then one day
(possibly after a Windows Update was installed) it has changed to US.

My location is set as United Kingdom. I have tried setting it to US,
rebooting and then setting it back to UK and have also clicked "Copy to
Reserved Accounts" on the Administrative tab. This all made no difference.

Any further help would be appreciated...

Similar situation except that I have moved from the UK to the US and still
only get the UK content. I have all my regional and language settings as US
and still the small amount of UK content comes up.

Help - I want to see the US online content now that I live here !

Same problem here. When I format the harddisk and install vista ultimate
brand new with Switzerland settings, I get Swiss TV as the online feeds. But
after a few days it changes to Germany feeds and I have found no solutions to
set it back.

Hi There,

Been reading your feed problems. I've just installed Vista Ultimate and got
the exact same problem!! American feeds all the time!

I've managed to get around it now by installing the correct feed from the
related website. i.e. for bbc news feeds you need to go to:

http://newsrss.bbc.co.uk/rss/newsonline_uk_edition/uk/rss.xml

and hit "Subscribe to this feed" There are loads there to choose from but
this one is the BBC News UK one. Once you've done so you'll see it's appeared
under the options when you right click the feed gadget. Select it and the
feed will appear.

Hope this helps

He's not talking about RSS feeds Jimbo, but Online Content within Media
Center (sic)

I had EXACTLY the same issue XP/MCE 2005 worked fine, but upgrading to Vista
premium has given me US content that I can't view because I'm not there.

Irritatingly my laptop with a new install of Vista Premium works fine and I
see the (limited) UK content!

I've searched high and low for a solution to this problem that Landshark
(correctly BTW, Buellpilot you need to READ the message and not be so
pedantic!) highlighted, but no-one seems to care

It's another of those irritating "US-English" problems; "hey it's in
English, what more do ya want?"
