Hi,

Just checking to see if anyone here is getting "Virgin 1" details on WMC's
Guide?

I'm picking up the program details on the old "ftn" channel (122) but I see
nothing yet for "Virgin 1 + 1"

Anyone else?

Whoa! I'm getting it now. Must have updated since last night!

I'm not getting listings for Virgin 1 + 1 though. Just "No Data Available"
even after a 'Get Latest Listings' :(

Still, at least that's halfway there!

Now there's just "BRAVO 2" and "Movies 24" to get sorted. ;)

The channel is not yet showing up under the name Virgin1 in the guide but
the guide data for FTN actually shows the programs being shown on Virgin1.
This is on Freeview via the Crystal Palace transmitter in MCE 2005. On
Freeview it is channel 20.

After a bit of faffing around, that's what I had until yesterday
afternoon. Some time after that, the Guide must have updated itself with
the correct channel name because my "ftn" changed to "Virgin 1" all by
itself. :)

I'm on Virgin cable and it's 122 there. In fact, being on Virgin Cable
made it a bit more galling because here I am on Virgin, unable to get the
Guide to pick up the channel name "Virgin"!

(I think Virgin have only given 12 hrs of Virgin 1 to Freeview -- is that
right?)

I've been raising this issue with Microsoft over on The Green Button:
http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/1/212828/ShowThread.aspx

As of today's guide I've got both Virgin 1 and Virgin 1 +1, though I had to
enter the channel number for +1 by myself before it showed up in the guide.
It's got all the data there though.

I'm a Virgin Media customer also.

Yes, I've seen your battles to raise their awareness. Well done.

Mind you, it doesn't seem so much to be MS but their suppliers who are
doing the slacking.

(In fact, isn't BDS linked with Red Bee who were the ones who mentioned in
this cock-up about the Queen storming out of a photo shoot?)

I've just had a *massive* automatic update of the channels this evening.
Virtually all of the + 1 channels that were missing have come into the
Guide. Setanta, Sky Movies, BBC HD, etc -- loads of stuff has suddenly
appeared.

This WMC thing is getting quite good now. :)

If only I could mark or colour individual programs or genres like I do in
DigiGuide!

Yep, mine updated its name after I posted as well, and yes Freeview only
gets Virgin1 after 6pm.

By the way, the speed of 'new' channels being added to the guide has
improved dramatically, it used to literally take FOUR MONTHS, but is now
down to just days.

My main outstanding complaint is that the series record feature still sucks
big time, in that it cannot tell the different between a first showing and a
repeat. So as an example, today on BBC 1 is a repeat of a "Silent Witness"
story, according to my settings of only recording first showings it should
not be scheduled for recording but it is. This happens ALL the time and has
ever since I first started using Media Center. This is an area where the
Sky+ box is miles ahead.

Sky+ is very primitive. There is only an 8 day EPG & the Series Linking just gets to mark the next
occurrence of a programme. If a programme is off air for a week then there is no more series link &
it needs to be re-created.

Crikey! I must sa that I'd not noticed how poor it was because I've
pretty much only just starting watching any of the 'extra' channels. I've
always been content with the terrestrial set.

I've been using a combination of ShowShifter and DigiGuide for years now.
ShowShifter has now bitten the dust[1], but I still use DigiGuide and so,
to me, the Guide is a Fischer-Price version of what it should be.

I'd like to be able to colour-code (or otherwise highlight) categories of
program. That way, I could tell at a glance what's a film and what's a
quiz show. The same for my favorites. I'd like to be able to record
series dependant on keywords which use boolean logic. (If 'Alias' ever
returns, I'd like to not miss Episode 1) Etc, etc etc. :)

Footnote
--------
1. I never managed to get it installed it on this new Vista machine. Too
many codec clashes. :(
