I have Vista Premium 32bit with media centre running and connected direct
into our 1080i Sony LCD TV via HDMI cable.

The problem is anything that I watch from TV or recordings made from TV via
media centre is far to dark and contrasty. I could change the brightness and
contrast for that channel on the TV BUT, playing back Blu-ray films and DVDs
through WinDVD the images are perfect, it is only media centre that displays
too dark and contrasty, even Windows media player is fine.

Any solution to this?

If you use Media Center to view Live TV or Recorded TV on your PC monitor,
are the results perfect or "too dark and contrasty"?
Also, have you tried using Media Center to play DVDs?

Anything through media centre is dark/contrasty - it seems to be exclusively
'media centre' other programs on the same PC i.e. WinDVD, Quicktime, Media
Player VLC all play just fine.

I am unable to connect it to a PC monitor as the Media Centre PC has HDMI
output only

Change the gamma to about 2.6 from the lower settings by going into Settings
