Anyone else in Emley moor region (or elsehwere) got totally screwed channels
since the C4+1 (apparent) launch.

Wifey reported some channel or other missing (E4 I think) so I did a re-scan
for new channels and it all went very wrong. ITV1 has gone anoung others (it
claims I can get it but when I add it, it doesn't show in the guide and if I
go back to add it its unticked).

A re-scan again today initially showed only 43 channels (after 69 yesterday)
and now I have 73 apparently but I can't watch half of them!

Whats going on!

Don't rescan....

Do a full TV setup again, and scan for everything again from scratch.

Apart from the addition of the new Channel4+1 channel, a couple of other
channels got moved around.

The initial lower number of channels found on a rescan could be a sign of
poor reception at the time of the scan.

I also find (and I believe others have as well) that in MCE 2005 at least
the channel/guide settings files will over time get screwed up. In order to
get Channel4+1 added properly (and fix my E4) I ended up having to throw
away the ehome folder and then as per the other reply, doing a setup TV from
scratch.

Note: I am on the Crystal Palace transmitter.

There are several causes for the EPG getting messed up in Media center. Media Center sometimes tunes
in to a weaker signal from a more distant transmitter rather than stronger signal from your local
transmitter. By judicious editing of the registry you can force Media Center to only scan the six
MUXes from the nearest transmitter. It also greatly decreases the amount of time that a scan takes.
There is a detailed description of how to do it in this posting
http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/thread/133114.aspx

The problem with Media Center having a less than perfect signal is that if the signal drops below
threshold then Media Center thinks that the channels have disappeared & removes them from the EPG.
Even not removed from the guide Media Center may well do Opportunistic Scanning & think that there
are new channels & add them to the guide.

Vista is much more stable in terms of the DVB-T EPG than MCE 2005 & in particular there is a Hot Fix
that disables Opportunistic Scanning http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/938927 You have to
call Microsoft Support to get the fix but it is also available on the 'Net e.g.
