I have an XP SP3 PC with non-working sound. When I select All
Programs\Accessories\Entertainment\Volume Control,
the volume control sliders don't appear. Instead there'a message about
missing software.
When I goi to Control Center\ Add Hardware\ and select "MultiMedia Audio
Controller", the wizard searches online for the
appropriate software (I don't have the original installation CD), and
though the wizard appears to connect to wherever it gets these things it
reports it
can't locate it.

Is there somewhere I can download it ? Or is there some diagnostic that'll
tell me exactly what's missing ?
