I ran MCE2005 for a long time with a hauppauge HVR1100 tuner with no problems
at all with the channels or guide.
3 Months ago I upgraded to Vista ultimate and purchased a PVR500 dual tuner.
Since the installation I have been unable to receive the BBC channels that
are used for "Red Button" streaming content i.e. 301,302 etc.
Is it possible to add the channels manually, I know they are present because
If I use a freeview box plugged into my LCDTV instead I can tune to these
channels.

Any help much appreciated.

MCE2005 and Media Center in Vista do not support the Red Button
functionality at all. They don't even support Teletext or Subtitles on
Freeview either.

Supposedly the next Media Center update (code named Fiji) for Vista will at
long long last add these missing features. At that point you should then be
able to properly use the Red Button.

John,

Thanks for the reply. However I already appreciate that I cannot access the
Red Button features.

If I were to access the red button features using a set top box, the
streming content that is shown (ie Wimbeldon tennis etc), is also broadcast
on the Freeview channels 301, 302, 303, 304 and 305.

Apparenty Vista MCE deliberately hides these channels as MS decided that they
were predominantly MHEG 5 channels.

You can get them back by modifying the registry. Simply remove the relevant
entries from:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Media
Center\Service\GLID\ExclusionList

and then perform a complete channel rescan (i.e., delete all channels and
then rescan).

Hope that helps.
