I have Win XP MCE on a laptop that also came with Win Movie Maker. I can
record Freeview TV with the tuner that was bundled but I haven't been able
to edit the recordings (e.g. to remove ads). Win MM won't read the files
recorder by MC. Anybodyout there with advice on how to do this. Or does MS
really produce incompatible products?

Its not that its an incomaptiable product... its that XP Movie Maker
pre-dates the DVR-MS files... so you can't really expect it to work.
Of course Vista Movie Maker be later can read them.

But for a simple editor to cut out ads go here

It took a bit of figuring out and even harder to mark the edit points but
DVR-Edit does the job, thanks.
